Join other Rockford Network members and their guests on May 19th for Dr. Catherine Forslund’s presentation on Rockford women during World War II. The World War II experiences of students, staff, faculty, and alumnae of Rockford College reflect what millions of American women faced as they struggled to survive the war years in the United States. Using the College community for its sources, We are a college at war: Young American Women Fight WWII tells the story of women’s many contributions to the US war effort. Women worked in local factories, served punch and danced with GIs at local USO clubs, served in the Red Cross and many branches of the military service all in an effort to help the nation in its time of need.
